Based on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) station of the same name, ‘Grosmont’ is a OO gauge end-to-end layout measuring 12’ long by 2’ wide, with an additional 4’ by 2’ fiddle yard.

The layout has been a steep learning curve for first-time modellers Callum Martin and Paul Stevenson, and an experiment in what could be achieved at minimal cost. Almost all elements are recycled from previous club layouts, including baseboards and track, or scratch-built. All the buildings and structures are scratch-built using card from food packaging or grey board. The only exception is the Hornby R076 footbridge (although this has been suitably modified to better reflect the prototype) and some trackside fencing.

‘Grosmont’ depicts the station as it appears in the present day and a variety of DCC-controlled stock is run on the layout, reflecting the varied operation of stock on one of the country’s leading heritage lines.
